Indiana phasing out inheritance tax
Indiana, which was one of only eight (8) states left (the others
are Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Tennessee ) with such a tax, is
now ending its inheritance tax. The plan is to decrease the tax gradually, starting in 2012, and by 2021, end it altogether.
It involves increasing from $100,000 to $250,000 the amount not subject to the tax for immediate family, and then it will
reduce taxes 10% each year until the tax is gone.
